Public Transit Makes a Small World

I've recently become a regular on the MBTA systems, for mainly the commuter rail and subway lines, and it's changed how I see the world.

My scale of this world is from the suburbs. It's typically a few minutes drive to get anywhere, whether it be the market, a friends place, school, or work, if I needed to get somewhere, I needed to take my car.

But taking the T quickly changed that for me. At first it just let me get to Boston easily, letting me go to conventions without worrying about parking. Now? It lets me see friends, attend events, and just commute around my daily life for cheap.

Sure, I still need a car to get to the commuter rail station for now, but beyond that, I'm free.

Free might seem like I'm exaggerating, but there's no other way to put it. I'm not trying to find parking, not going through road rage, I'm just getting to where I'm going, and working on hobbies in the meantime.

I do find it funny that I'm having this realization now of all times. Most of my friends have been taking the T for years, living right by a bus or subway stop. I do wonder if the thought has gone through their mind at some point, or if this kind of transit is something that has been taken for granted.

Who knows. I certainly don't.

Anyway, I should be getting some sleep. It's 3 AM for me right now.

Y'all have a good one.
